How Learning To Love Yourself Becomes Your Stepping Stone To Happiness.

Self-love. We all roll our eyes when we hear the word.
However, let me tell you what happens when you don't love and accept yourself, both inwardly and outwardly.
- Low self-esteem.
- Lack of confidence.
- Negative thoughts and feelings about yourself.
- Low expectations of people you've just met because you expect them to reject you.
- You never feel good enough.
The list goes on.
Nothing good seems to happen when we either hate who we are inwardly OR outwardly. Whenever possibilities or opportunities arise, we expect them to go badly because of what we think of ourselves and simply because we don't think it'll happen for us. We just "don't" deserve to be happy and successful.
Here's the thing, you do in fact deserve it. You deserve to grow and succeed, to be happy and to be comfortable with who you are as a person. You DESERVE that!
What you don't deserve is negative and hateful talk about yourself.
As I always say, people with good intentions are good people, end of story. If you're not out to harm another being, you're a good person, and you deserve to love yourself.
Let me tell you something, I have fingers that naturally bend in an odd way. I have the world's frizziest hair unless it's styled properly, I have toes that also aren't straight! I have chubby cheeks even though I'm 18 not 8. I have the goofiest laugh and cry when someone raises their voice at me. But do you know what? That's just me!
I can hate it all I like but nothing will change, it's how I look after all. So, my only option is to accept and love my quirks for what they are, including my goofy personality.
Trust me, I could list a million more things that I'm still learning to love but at the end of the day, it's all what makes me, me. It's what makes me an individual. That's why I don't look like Beyonce, or Kim K.
My point is this, you can either waste your time and energy hating on things you can't change or you can learn to embrace and love who you are, lovely and beautiful you.
As is any big change, learning to fully love yourself is a slow process and it takes time, but that doesn't mean it's not achievable for you. I don't fully love myself yet, but from that tiny bit of self-love I've incorporated over the last year, I've seen and felt a huge difference.
Yes I still lack confidence, I have days where I feel like the most annoying and dull person on earth. There's always a bit of me that fears rejection when speaking with new people, what if they think I'm this or that?
It's a daily effort but it is worthwhile. At the end of the day, we all deserve happiness and love from ourselves.
Ciao for now x
