Uhhhhh say what?!

Rejection SUCKS. Whether it's a job you didn't get or a significant other who didn't love you back. We all hate rejection.

You're probably thinking 'so what the hell is your title on about???'. Hear me out okay.

Imagine a life where you got everything you wanted always. At the click of a finger. That dream job. The perfect human that you were head over heels in love with. Getting accepted into THAT university. Bliss, right?

Yes, this would be an ideal life. However, what would we gain from an easy life? What would we learn? Most importantly, what a boring life that would be if all challenges were taking away.

Challenges are what helps us better ourselves and grow.

Unfortunately, life doesn't always go to plan. We have all of these ideas, goals and dreams and our own thought out pathway to getting there. Sometime's life's funny way of working doesn't always lead us straight down the yellow brick road.

Still not buying it? Let me throw in a good old personal example of how rejection is good.

I recently made the decision to apply for University. I applied and was luckily accepted. Exciting times.

Me being me, of course I just have to ponder every single decision I make until my mind almost explodes with annoyance. I find myself coming up with all kinds of excuses despite knowing deep down that I whole-heartedly want to go.

A couple of months ago a lady from a radio station got in touch. She'd seen my blog and liked it and offered a newsreader position which I gladly accepted. I was to then wait for another member of staff to contact me who eventually did. However the offer was soon declined as I didn't have enough experience.

Now usually I would've felt extremely down and disheartened by this. For the first time in my life I chose to take it as a sign. A sign that I was

making the right decision of going to University in order to pursue what I want to do as a career.

Don't get me wrong, obviously I'm not going to have a reaction as positive as this to every single rejection in the future nor would any other normal human being.

As the saying goes, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Think back to all the rejection you've faced in your life. The heartbreaks. What you've perceived as failure.

Have they helped you grow / better yourself? Would you be as strong as you are today had you been accepted each time? Would you be where you are today?

What I'm trying to say is this - rejection is a part of life. Think of rejection and acceptance as yin and yang. We must have one to have the other.

Let it happen and let yourself cry, get angry, mope around, but PLEASE remember it is happening for a reason - possibly unknown for now but a reason nevertheless. It is leading you to a stronger and better place and you shall get through it just like you've done before.

Believe in yourself always.

Ciao for now x
