New Beginnings

Today's post as you've probably guessed by the title, is all about new beginnings. I'd like to say this is the last time I mention Uni but that'd be a lie if I'm being honest with myself. I can finally say that I am officially enrolled and am almost officially a Journalism student. Why is this relevant?

It's a complete new beginning for me. Scary, scary times. I feel like this past year, for me, has been filled with new beginnings. Each one has, initially been terrifying but each one has helped me so much.

So why do we fear something new? It means change. It means the unknown. It means new faces and potential challenges to overcome. As spoken about in recent posts, change is daunting for many of us and so it's no surprise that starting something new makes that high percentage of the world want to run a mile.

I promise you, the best things happen when you put yourself in situations where you feel uncomfortable. As the saying goes nothing good comes from comfort zones.

If you've come here looking for a reason NOT to start your new beginning, whether it's a job or meeting new people, you are very much in the wrong place.

Why SHOULD you take every new and foreign opportunity that arrives?

- To gain new experiences.

- Meet new people/potential friends or partners.

- Because you weren't born to stay in one place forever and settle. Settling puts your life on hold.

- To try something that's alien to you, an adventure or challenge that's going to help you for the better. Even if it turns out to be a bad experience. It'll still help you grow and develop.

- To build confidence within yourself.

- To keep moving, growing and developing.

Those are just a few of a long list of reasons why you should always go for opportunities where new beginnings arise. You can't grow if you don't move, it's simple.

New beginnings freak you out because you're scared of the unknown. It's out of your control, but that's the beauty of life. We can't always be in control of a situation but we can definitely control how we react - both positively or negatively.

We ARE in control of how we treat what's unknown to us. We can either look at all the negative scenarios that probably won't end up happening or we can look at the endless possibilities that await us.

I strongly believe, the more you place yourself in uncomfortable situations the better you begin to understand yourself. You start to find out, bit by bit, who you truly are.

The amazing thing is you actually start to feel comfortable with who you are. You start to embrace who you are. You start accepting that some people will like you and some won't but who cares? You're you and you should never be anybody else for the sake of others. The right ones like you for who you are.

If you're going through something that is making your tummy churn, your heart beat race and your palms turn sweaty, please remember this will all pass. Soon enough it'll become second nature to you. Most importantly this is helping you grow and grow like you're meant to.

Ciao for now x
